Personalised Mothers Day Gifts

As a mother of two toddlers I'm a few years away from getting gifts from my children for Mothers Day.  But I am an aunt twice over from a brother and sister, so when Mothers Day rolls around I have to start thinking of some cute unique gift to give my sister and sister in-law.

Usually I'll go to The Potting Shed in nearby Chelsea. They have an eclectic selection of toiletries, candles, and keep sakes.  But this past year I wanted to find something I could personalise so I went online and had a look.  One of the first places I came across was National Engravers our of Kent, England.  They had a wide selection of silver plated and crystal gifts all of which could be personalised with a message, emblem, crest, or even a picture on some.

One of the items that first caught my eye was this silver plated heart pendant on an 18 inch chain.  The heart measured 17mm wide and could hold up to 20 characters.  I loved the simplicity of it, but thought my message might run a bit longer.

The next item I was drawn to was this silver plated jewellery box.  Certainly large enough for a message or picture and quite elegant.  But in the end I chose this silver plated compact mirror and atomiser set for it's elegance and practicality.  I thought it was a gift she would actually carry with her and use.

I had the bottom of the compact engraved with the message, "Happy Mothers Day to a Wonderful Mother and Sister, 2012".  I had several font styles to choose from so I went with an elegant Script.

My sister loved the gift, so I think for this up coming Mother's Day, I'll do something similar for my sister in-law.
